Polish-born French physicist (1867-1934), she and her husband Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, in 1898. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She died of leukemia brought about by her work with radioactive material. TLS signed “M. Curie,” one page, 5.5 x 4.25, Faculte Des Science De Paris, Institut Du Radium letterhead, June 25, 1921. Brief letter which originally accompanied a photo [not included]. In full: “Thank you for all your kindness to me and your interest in my work. Please accept this picture of me as a souvenir of my happy visit to your country.” In fine condition.
