This is a rare late 18th century French marked by Marie Antoinette's factory shell shaped dish beautifully hand painted with blue roses and iron red cornflowers sprigs . The superb quality of this dish is amazing!!! The beautifully modeled shell shaped dish is influenced by the French Sevres porcelain factory outside of Paris. The dish has overall elaborate gold gilding. Hand painted in a scattered rose & cornflower sprig pattern. The cornflower pattern was introduced at Sevres about 1774 for French Queen Marie Antoinette .Cornflowers were her favorite flower. The cornflower pattern was subsequently produced at her Parisian porcelain factory on rue Thiroux. This caused the pattern to be known as "decor de la Rene".This pattern is regarded as a classic Louis XVI porcelain pattern. On the back of the dish is crowned A in iron red. The dish is in good condition. measurements: 9" 1/2 long by 8"1/2.
