<B>Maricopa, CA</B></I> - $20 1902 Date Back Fr. 645 <B>The First NB</B></I> Ch. # (P)9957<BR> The Kansas City collection has more great California notes than perhaps any we have ever offered (which is high praise indeed, as CAA has been privileged to offer both the Colver and the Horwedel collections within the past decade.) With several notes which are unique to their banks, collectors can debate which is truly the most rare, but our vote goes to this example, which combines exceptional bank rarity with exceptional condition as well. This is the only note known from Maricopa, an obscure community of such little importance that its only bank lasted less than four years, issuing Third Charter Date Backs only. Fortunately for collectors, this is a real peach of a note, with vivid colors, great eye appeal, and bold pen signatures.
