This work was created in 1963 by Mariano Rodriguez in reference to the "La Rampa" (Boulevard La Rampa in Havana, Cuba) floor project involving mosaic sidewalk tiles. The project was a collaboration between many Cuban artists including Sandu Darie, Wilfredo Lam, Rene Portecarrero, etc. Left inside including the notations "Projecto "La Rampa Por orden de Celia - boceto para la ejecucion de terajos - Autor: Mariano Rodriguez- Technica: Acrylico sobre paper - Medida: 75 x 75 cm - Colores: blanco, negro - Arquitedo: Fernando Salinas". Includes architect stamp Fernando Salinas and additionally Ornacen S.A. The artistic mosaics of La Rampa were made in integral granite by the Cuban company "ORNACEN", with the intervention of the architects Fernando Salinas and Eduardo Rodríguez.

Provenance: Private collection; direct estate of Fernando Salinas; presumably acquired by Mr. Salina's estate from the artist. Together with estate documentation copies from the Cuban government including details regarding importing and image of the artist with the painting and the tile.
