ALS in French, signed “M. Fortuny,” one page both sides, 9 x 5.75, stamped personal letterhead, June 22, 1935. Letter about the sale of his dresses—already considered works of art—to the Louvre or another institution. In part (translated): "I received your telegram saying important negotiations are now suspended. The offer is only five sevenths of the asking price and I have telegraphed back to you saying it was not enough. For me, I repeat that it is a question of price and we have to get the most possible and with immediate payment. (Which with the Louvre should be difficult.) And if anyone else offers more, I will bypass the Louvre." In fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the upper left corner.
