<B>Marian Marsh's "Revised Final" and "2nd Rev. Final" Script for "The Mad Genius," the Latter Signed by Her with Annotation. </B></I> Warner Bros. had such high hopes for <I>Svengali,</B></I> starring John Barrymore and Marian Marsh, that it followed up with <I>The Mad Genius</B></I> before <I>Svengali</B></I> was even released. <I>The Genius</B></I> (as it was originally titled) was a madly baroque melodrama with Barrymore as a puppeteer with wild eyes and a club foot, bringing up a waif to become a great dancer. Marian played a ballerina, Michael Curtiz directed, the plot dealt with mad jealousy and drug addiction, and a pre-<I>Frankenstein</B></I> Boris Karloff lurched through briefly as the waif's brutal father. Come the climax, and Barrymore - murdered with an axe - came tumbling through the mouth of a giant monster head on stage, causing a riot in the theatre! Here are two scripts for this wicked opus - the "revised Final" (dated 2/5/31) and the "2nd Revised FInal" (dated 3/10/31). Marian Marsh had written her name on the cover of the latter, and added some annotation regarding her dialogue. Very Fine + condition.
