Margaret Thatcher was the first female prime minister of the United Kingdom. Leader of the Conservative party, she served as prime minister from 1979-1990. She served three consecutive terms in office.
During her time in office, Thatcher's policies helped to reduce inflation, but unemployment increased significantly and her popularity began to wane. However, success in the Falklands War in 1982 helped her to win a landslide victory in the 1983 general election.
This black and white photograph shows Thatcher delivering a political speech with both hands raised.
The photograph has been signed by the Baroness in black ink on a white panel beneath the image.
Both the signature and the photograph are in excellent condition.
