''Gone With The Wind'' author, Margaret Mitchell typed letter signed, dated 3 June 1941. Letter of thanks to an admirer showcases Mitchell's charming southern manners: ''I was indeed surprised to receive a letter from Bulgaria. European mail is so uncertain these days. I was very pleased to have your letter, the first and only one I have received from Bulgaria since my book was published in your country. I thank you for writing me so fine a letter. I have just received from my Bulgarian publisher copies of 'Gone With the Wind' published in your language. Alas, I cannot read the book, but I value it. It seems scarcely possible that books could come safely half across the world, through fighting nations, and find a resting place on my quiet book shelves. / Margaret Mitchell.'' One page typed, measuring 6.25'' x 9'', on personal letterhead. Matted to an overall size of 24'' x 20.5''. Light document wear, two punch holes to left edge, and some light soiling and creasing, else fine condition.
