American artist (born 1927) who is famous for drawing paintings with big eyes, mainly of women, children and animals. Her paintings were originally attributed to Keane's husband, Walter Keane, and her life and work was the subject of the 2014 Tim Burton biopic Big Eyes. Five items: a black ballpoint sketch by Keane of a large eye on a white 8 x 5 sheet, signed and inscribed in black ballpoint, "To Hope, MDH Keane, 2017," who adds a copyright symbol to the sketch; a ballpoint signature, "M. Keane, 2040 Larkin St., San Francisco, CA., 94109," on an off-white 3.25 x 1.75 slip clipped from an envelope; a religious pamphlet entitled 'The Watchtower, Announcing Jehovah's Return,' 15 pages, 7 x 9, signed and inscribed on the front cover in black ballpoint, "Hope, please read—especially the back cover, love, Margaret"; and two glossy photos, 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, one showing Keane at work, and another color photo shows her standing between two of her paintings, both signed in black ballpoint, "MDH Keane." In overall very fine condition.
