<B>March of Comics #4 Donald Duck - Davis Crippen ("D" Copy) pedigree (K. K. Publications, Inc., 1947) CGC GD+ 2.5 Cream to off-white pages.</B></I> This is one of the most desirable of all promotional comics thanks to a Donald Duck story by Carl Barks and cover art that may be the work of Walt Kelly. It's easy to forget that the early issues of this promotional series were full-size comic books! The various copies of this issue have either blank back covers or the imprint of a sponsor -- this particular one was a giveaway by the Woodward & Lothrop department store in Washington D.C. where Davis Crippen grew up. Always the completist, Mr. Crippen, a teenager when this was published, obviously acquired this copy secondhand from a local youngster. Still, it's one of only six unrestored copies CGC has certified to date. Overstreet 2006 GD 2.0 value = $750.
