Marc Quinn: Incarnate. Booth Clibborn 2000, 208 pages. Fine. <p> Marc Quinn - famous for his sculpture Self, a life cast of the artist&#39;s head filled with nine pints of his own frozen blood - is a leading representative of the Young British Artists who have inspired reverence and revulsion worldwide. His first publication, Incarnate, is a comprehensive overview of the sculptural pieces which have established him as one of the most challenging artists of his generation. It contains over 200 full color illustrations of Quinn&#39;s work, including Self, Emotional Detox, The Blind Leading the Blind, and Frozen Frog Sculpture, alongside many that have never been seen before. Accompanying the images is a story by the novelist Will Self and essays by the art historian and critic Mark Gisbourne, and by David Thorp, curator of the South London Gallery, as well as a transcript of a conversation between Quinn and the musician Brian Eno. Incarnate is designed by Sean Perkins of North.
