US Navy admiral (1887–1947) who commanded the Fast Carrier Task Force in the Pacific during the latter part of World War II. War-dated free-franked envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, addressed in type and postmarked Washington, D. C., October 30, 1945, franked in the upper right across the return address, “M. A. Mitscher,” and a vintage ink signature, “Marc A. Mitscher,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card, with collector’s typed notations under signature. In fine condition, with light toning and creasing to envelope, as well as a bit of light contrast to franking signature, and mounting remnants to card’s corners.
