(Walt Disney Studios, 1985) Group of five original concept drawings and character studies by Marc Davis for the animated fantasy film The Black Cauldron, each accomplished in graphite on sheets of 15.5 x 12.5 animation paper, with Davis signing each in the lower right corner. Includes the following characters: the creature Gurgi; the pig Hen Wen; the fairy folk King Eidilleg and his right-hand man Doli; Creeper (fighting with the Horned King's dog over a bone); and the three witches Orddu, Orwen and Orgoch. The majority of drawings bear names and notes. In overall fine condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.

A massive new team of animators and artists were brought in to work on The Black Cauldron, and, as such, both Milt Kahl and Marc Davis worked on the film in character development, mentoring, and in training the new talent. This would be one of the last projects Davis worked on for Walt Disney Studios.
