Lot 49. TRANSITIONAL, Oxblood. German single-pontil handgathered Oxblood transitional. Oxblood, swirled with white and clear. The marble was recovered from a shipwreck and the surface was abraded by sand and salt water, so it has an "acid" type wash finish to it. The ground pontil is gone. Technically, this is "sea glass" now. Germany, circa 1860-1910. 27/32". Polished (by wave action).Provenance: This marble was recovered from an unnamed Long Island shipwreck and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Land of Marbles.
