MISCELLANEOUS. This is a conglomerate concretion from the Marble Wreck site on the south shore of Long Island. It is a mass of non-glass marbles, pottery shards, shells, sand, pebbles and rusted iron that has fused together over time. A number of discernible marbles in the mass, as well as depressions on the surface where others fell out. This is an exceptionally rare item. 3-1/2" x 3-1/4" x 2". This item was recovered from the Marble Wreck site described on Page 105 of Wreck Valley III by Capt. Dan Berg. There is a similar conglomerate pictured on that page. The site is identified as the shipwreck of an 1870s schooner inbound from Germany. The item is as-found and has not been polished. Accompanied by a COA from Land of Marbles.
