Numbered "<I>15</B></I>" (in the upper right) from an American and French "Jones and Hamilton" atlas. "<I>Imprimerie de Ferd. Mayer et fils, New York et Paris</B></I>." in lower right. Polar projection. Inset map of the western part of Texas. Excellent detail of Cross Timbers (called "<I>Mesquite Openings</B></I>), trails, ponds, springs, topography, dozens of forts, resources (gypsum, salt, arable land, timber, sand, course grass, etc.), the railroads branching from Houston/Harrisburg area, many place names such as El Paso del Norte, Old Rock Fort in Johnson Co., New Washington east of Houston, Webbers Prairie near Austin. "<I>Scale of English Miles</B></I>." Most of these maps have a map of Indian Territory on verso; this one doesn't. One minor smudge in an uncolored area just west of Edwards county.
