Supremely rare color 5 x 7 paperstock photo of the Chinese Communist leader standing and applauding from behind a podium at the 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing in April 1969, signed nicely in the lower border in blue ink by Mao Zedong. In very fine condition. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder, grading the autograph as "NM 7." Accompanied by a photograph packet entitled ‘Our Great Leader Chairman Mao,’ published by the Foreign Language Press in 1969, from which the offered photo originates.

Mao Zedong autographs are among the rarest and most desirable across the entirety of the collecting market. It is well known that the Chinese government attempts to acquire such examples to not only ensure the Communist leader’s immortal stature but likewise to further the value of anything he touched during his lifetime. As such, in many cases, signed Mao Zedong items that appear for auction, once purchased, are never seen again. Not only is this the first Mao Zedong signed portrait that we have ever offered, but it is the only example we know of that has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA. A rare and exciting opportunity to invest in one of the grand jewels of autograph collecting.
