Many Trails Chippewa Cree Beaded Throwing Arrows
Featured in this lot are two Chippewa Cree game throwing arrows made by Many Trails in the 20th Century, from the Many Trails Collection at the former Indian Nation Trading Post in Livingston, Montana. The throwing arrow game originated around the 1920s - 1930s by the Apsaalooke Crow of Montana. These arrows show a wood construction with brass tacks, a small beaded section near the middle and wrapped tanned rawhide on the tops and bottoms. They are adorned with three turkey feathers each and show turkey feather fletching. The tips are long and constructed from steel, showing a nice point on each. The first one shows red, brown and teal beads in the beaded section, while the second one shows orange and multi-colored (yellow, red, blue, purple, light blue and green) beads. They show good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of major damage noted. The first (red, brown & teal beads) measures 57 5/8" L x 3 1/8" W x 2 5/8" D, while the second (multi-colored beads) measures 56 1/2" L x 3" W x 2" D. They have a collective weight of 1 pound and 4 ounces.
