In-8° : 368 pp. enluminées (sans le fascicule d'appareil critique). Rel. d'édition : plein cuir noir, plats couverts de 12 cabochons en métal doré avec armoires centrales idem et peintes, dos à nerfs surmontés d'éléments de métal doré, gardes de tissu bleu. Dans un coffret in-4° en velours bleu doublé de toile satinée jaune paille. Fac-similé du "Livre d'heures dit d'Isabelle la Catholique". Enluminé par Willem Vrelant, miniaturiste originaire de Utrecht, installé à Bruges, ce manuscrit en écriture gothique méridionale est considéré, à juste titre, comme une des oeuvres majeures du XVe siècle finissant dans nos régions (ca. 1468). La légende raconte que l'or utilisé pour les décors de la reliure du codex, attribuée jadis à Benvenuto Cellini, aurait été ramené du Nouveau Monde, découvert peu de temps auparavant. Le manuscrit a probablement été commandé par Juana Enriquez, reine d'Aragon qui l'offrit à son fils Ferdinand et sa femme la reine d'Espagne, Isabelle la Catholique. Le manuscrit passa ensuite dans la bibliothèque de leur fille Jeanne la Folle. Il comporte pas moins de 72 miniatures à pleine page, 12 miniatures de petit format dans le calendrier et de multiples bordures marginales où alternent les acanthes de couleurs, les éléments figurés et les motifs floraux et végétaux stylisés, abondamment enrichis d'or à la feuille. Conservé à la Biblioteca del Palacio de Madrid, le manuscrit original n'est plus montré au public qu'en de très rares occasions. Il n'avait jamais été reproduit dans son entièreté avant la publication du présent fac-similé. 200 Euros

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 3.000 BEF will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Belgian Francs. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 7.000 BEF or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Belgian francs (BEF).
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 50.000 BEF.
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
