Ten sheets of 2 checks each for the Mansfield Land & Cattle Company. Dateline Lordsburg, New Mexico, 190-. Red and black print on light pink paper with livestock vignette. The Mansfield brothers had a meat business in Los Angeles in 1890 before incorporating this company in 1901. Edward and William Mansfield ran the New Mexico operation with Steins as their base of operation since it was on the Southern Pacific with a direct line to Los Angeles. IN 1913, Edward suspected his brother had been killed by Mexican bandits after he went missing.
