Mannlicher Schoenauer bolt action sporting carbine with 20” barrel showing marking, “Johnson automatics .257” which indicates conversion to .257 Roberts by the manufacturer of the World War II era Johnsonsemi-automatic rifle, serial number 16408. The rifle is mounted with a 4 power prominar scope on custom look through mount to be utilized with original iron sights. The metal has been refinished and is very good. Theforend has been shortened slightly and the stock is refinished probably at the time of conversion. The action is good and the bore is very good. From the estate of one of San Diego’s oldest collectors who used it fordeer hunting near Julian in the 1950’s to 60’s. Est.: $600-$1,200.
