25 1/4" by 29 1/4" framed. Oil on board. Mannie Gonsalves (1926 - 2012) was active/lived in Alberta / Canada, South Africa. Mannie Gonsalves is known for Impressionist landscape, portrait and harbor view painting. Mannie (Manuel) Gonsalves AFCA,CIPP, ASA (b. 1926 ) Mannie Gonsalves is an impressionist painter who was born in South Africa and has been living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since the early 1950's. His mediums are oil and pastel and his subjects are landscapes of Alberta, British Columbia and North Dakota, and portraits. He has also done some harbor boat scenes. He studied at the Johannesburg Art College, the Escola de Belas Artes (Lisbon) and the Alberta College of Art (Calgary). He has also studied with Robert Lougheed and Sergei Bongart. His work shows the influence of Roland Gissing (1895 - 1967), a prominent fellow Alberta artist, and frequent sketching partner at the Calgary Sketch Club. He is a regular exhibitor at the Charles Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana. He has shown with the Federation of Canadian Artists and The Canadian Institute of Portrait Painters. He is also a member of the Alberta Society of Artists, the Institute of Western Artists and an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He is the author of So You Want Snow Scenes to Paint (1965), published by Walter T. Foster. He is also listed in The Collector's Dictionary of Canadian Artists at Auction (2001), by Anthony R. Westbridge and Diana L. Bodnar, published by Westbridge Publications Ltd.
