Fabled German military pilot (1892–1918), known as the ‘Red Baron,’ who shot down 80 enemy planes in World War I before he was killed in action at age 25. Scarce vintage 3.25 x 5.25 German postcard head-and-shoulders photo of von Richthofen in an overcoat and cap, signed in fountain pen, “Frhr. v. Richthofen.” Photo is affixed to a front blank page of a rebound copy of Der Rote Kampfflieger, 4 x 6, Berlin: Berlaa Ullstein & Co., 1917. In fine condition, with some trivial spotting along top edge. A superb example from this most coveted of military and aviation personalities.
