Mandolin Player circa 1875 by Roullet et Decamps, Pair, France. Reference "Automata The Golden Age" page 275. This beautiful example is in excellent working condition having been professionally restored cosmetically and mechanically. The automaton and musical movement (hidden within the players body) is key wound on his left side. The mandolin players movement is very realistic as his head turns slowly from side to side looking around and moving up and down (nodding) eyes open and shutting while he strums the mandolin. The pedestal is an impressive Victorian addition that adds to the overall presentation allowing an excellent stand alone performance. Figure alone 26.5" high. Base and figure 54.5
