Ultra rare early September 1860 billhead from Mandlebaum & Klauber, Groceries, Provisions, Wines, Liquors on Main Street, Genoa, C.V. (for Carson Valley). Nevada Territory was not created until March 1861, so this is when Genoa was technically Utah Territory! Billed to Mr. SA Kinsey. Folds, adhesive residue on reverse, pieces missing from the bottom left corner. The Klauber Ranch was among the first ranches organized in Carson Valley. At one point, Mandlebaum & Klauber operated stores in Carson and Virginia City. The pair had come to California together during the Gold Rush. They opened a store in Sacramento, then Volcano. Their store in Genoa also served as office for Wells Fargo and Pony Express.
