This tea set was made in Czechoslovakia expressly for Mandel Brothers department store in Chicago around the 1930's. They are classic Art Deco, in pink with black trim, and lustrous centers.
The set consists of:
6 dessert plates, 7 1/2" 6 saucers, 5 1/2" 5 cups, 3 1/2" in diameter, 2" high 1 sugar, 5 1/4' wide, 3" high 1 creamer, 4" from spout to handle, 3" high 1 teapot, 8 1/2" from spout to handle, 5 1/2" high
This set was freshly unboxed from having been in storage since 1964. Two cups have cracks, but still display nicely. Overall, the pieces are in very good condition. The luster on the plates have some nice patterns.
Mandel Brothers was a department store in Chicago. It was founded in 1855, and the building still stands on State and Madison. The store flourished in the 1930's and 40's, when this set was sold, and by 1960 it was sold off to another retailer. This is a stylish, Deco set from 1930's Chicago.

Entire Agreement; Waiver. This Agreement, including the Universal’s User Agreement and all exhibits and other documents are incorporated herein by reference, set forth the entire understanding and agreement of the parties and supersede any and all other written or oral agreements or understandings between the parties as to the subject matter of this Agreement. In the event of an inconsistency between this Agreement and any other document, which is part of this Agreement, the terms of this Agreement shall govern. From time to time during the term of this Agreement, Universal Collectibles, Universal B&I or Universal Live Auctions may amend this Agreement (including any incorporated documents) by posting the amended terms on any Universal site, emailing notice of the amendment to the Buyer, or otherwise communicating such amendment to the Buyer. Each amendment will be effective immediately after it is initially posted on any Universal site, emailed to the Buyer, or otherwise communicated to the Buyer. The waiver of a breach of any provision of this Agreement will not operate or be interpreted as a waiver of any other or subsequent breach. The laws of the State of Illinois shall govern this Agreement and all transactions with Universal Collectibles, Universal B&I and Universal Live Auctions. REV. 2008-01
