Biography
Aurel Jiquidi (1896-1962) Romanian graphic artist and painter, son of designer Constantine Jiquidi. Born in Bucharest 1896.Jiquidi was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest and also studied in Paris and Rome. In the late 1920’s, he began working for the progressive Romanian press, creating antifascist drawings and sketches of episodes that occurred during the Romanian revolutionary movement. He composed a series of drawings about the peasant uprising of 1907 and also illustrated literary works by I. Creanga and M. Sadoveanu. Jiquidi was awarded the State Prize of the Socialist Republic of Romania. Died in Bucharest in1962.
