TLS signed "Mamie E," two pages, 6.25 x 9, personal letterhead, August 26, 1974. Letter to Mollie Cullum, in part: "How exciting that you have all these folks coming in September to take the cure—sounds good to me. We have had a frightful drought here and apparently the rains have just swished around us, but the trees are losing their leaves fast due to lack of water. Moaney's garden is doing well and Arnold II (the pig) is growing like mad. Moaney feeds him so much that he looks like Moaney—very fat. Delores left yesterday for a ten-day vacation, so Moaney and I will hold down the house. Tomorrow, I go to Walter Reed for my regular check-up and expect to be there for several days…Naturally, all the good Republicans around here, and friends like you, were shocked by Mr. Nixon's resignation, but I guess under the circumstances it was best, and at least we will have a Republican President for the next two and a half years. President Ford's selection of Mr. Rockefeller (66 years old) as Vice President certainly points to the fact that he expects to run for a term all his own, for Mr. Rockefeller would be too old." In fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the first page. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
