The mother and cubs can be imagined walking in folly along the bank of a roaring river. They all look out at the viewer with a enigmatic almost calm manner as one of the cubs jumps on the mother's back hoping to play. in the native American spiritualistic beliefs the bear totem signifies primal power, motherhood, cunning, healing, gentle strength, dreaming, sovereignty, intuition married with instinct, nurture and protection. the handmade bronze sculpture was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for preservation. It is mounted upon a black marble base.
The artist Milo lived most of his childhood in Andalusia, Spain. Influenced by an artistic family background, he began sculpting at the age of seventeen. After apprenticing with several accomplished sculptors both in America and Spain, he began his own work focusing equally on steel and bronze.
