This is an original early Maliseet Native American Indian rare double sided beaded flat bag from circa mid to late 19th century. The bag shows a trade clothe construction in a brown velvet like material with red trade clothe border and wonderful glass trade seed beads. The bag shows a fancy beaded edge and is truly a wonderful piece with an exquisite floral design. Provenance: From the ex. collection of Tom Begner purchased by a Yucaipa, California collector at the Santa Fe Indian show in November of 2002. At the time of purchase the bags of this quality were valued and sold for $1500-$1800. The bag shows some wear, but overall is a great piece. Measures 5 7/8"x5 5/8". Front and back both shows beaded flaps.
