From the 'Arles/Miami' Portfolio of 5 lithographs published in 1973. These were the first original, hand drawn prints ever created by Morley and, as such, are important for any serious collection. . This image was printed in a rainbow of colors on a silver background. 24x34 in. on Arches paper. Signed in pencil by the artist and dedicated to the Director of the Atelier aside from the edition of 150. Subject matter is a fold-out picture postcard of Miami. 'This very unique print was made by printing it in 20 colors using 5 stones with 4 colors each. As a result of scrupulous matching, the image shifts color in narrow ripples from crimson to purple to green to dark blue to peacock blue to yellow and so on. Richard Lindner was born in 1901 in Hamburg. His mother was American. He grew up in Nuremberg and studied there at the Kunstgewerbeschule. From 1924 to 1927 he lived in Munich and studied there from 1925 at the Kunstakademie. He moved to Berlin and stayed there until 1928 when he returned to Munich to become art director of a publishing firm. He remained there until 1933 when he was forced to flee to Paris, where he was interned when the war broke out in 1939 and later served in the French army.
