Inc. in Maine in 1877. No. 108. Pen cancelled. Issued for 125 shares to R. Puffer, Trustee on Sept. 27, 1877 in Boston. Signed by Elijah E Lummus (president) and Edw. A. Lord (treasurer). Two vignettes: woman next to a shield with the Colorado seal (left) and miners working underground (right). Reverse includes signatures for transfer of shares to another person. Printer: J.H. Bufford's Sons, Boston. Other offices were located in Golden, Colorado and Winterport, Maine. Malachite Mining District. The Malachite's "works had the capacity of treating five tons of ore daily. . . . The [mine] was popular and produced copper ores whenever the copper market rose in price. It [was] on the divide between Bear creek and Mount Vernon Canyon three miles west of Morrison" [Ref: Holabird, Filer, p. 122, 2000].
