Make Ready for Greater Service 30x 20 WWI Poster Make Ready for Greater Service.
Make Ready for Greater Service. 30" x 20" Artist: Haskell Coffin. Printed for the Y.W.C.A. This poster was printed to ask women to come to the annual Y.W.C.A. Summer Conference which was being held in Silver Bay, New York, on July 16-26, 1918. The first annual conference was held in 1913 in Pacific Grove California. This one was held elsewhere, at a place which would become famous for Y.M.C.A. camps and retreats. This poster features the amazing artwork of Haskell Coffin, the artist who produced the famous Joan of Arc War Savings Stamps poster. His style of portraying women's faces is unparalleled. Their emotive and soft glances contain a sex appeal that is not seen except in rare cases like Christy's Girls. This style of art is hard to find even today. This is a scarce poster, and is made even more desirable since Coffin was the creator. The poster was printed on low quality stock, and there is a small tear on the bottom edge. However, this poster is impeccable, and finding one in this superior condition is nearly unheard of; a fantastic lot!
