Barbotine is a colorful French faience decorated in relief made between 1870 and 1930. Barbotine is also a word used to refer to French Majolica. The Sarreguemines manufacture was at one time referred to as the French Wedgewood for its fine quality and classic decoration. This platter is marked on the underside with an engraved SARREGUEMINES in block letters, a mark used until c. 1900. It is numbered D3814. Can be used to decorate a dining room, kitchen wall or cupboard. In good condition with crackle consistent with age and minor restoration (unnoticeable).
