Charming Majolica / Barbotine small planter / jardiniere with maroon exterior and turquoise colored interior. It is marked on the base "SARREGUEMINES 3200, 227, 04, 11." Barbotine is a colorful French faience decorated in relief made between 1870 and 1930. Barbotine is also a word used to refer to French Majolica. The Sarreguemines manufacture was at one time referred to as the French Wedgewood for its fine quality and classic decoration. This planter is marked on the underside with an engraved SARREGUEMINES in block letters, a mark used until c. 1900. In very good condition.
