The certificate was issued for two shares, #21 and #22. The company was incorporated by the state of Maine in 1836. Although, the certificate is undated, as there were 3000 authorized shares, we can assume it was issued shortly after incorporation. Great vignette of a long, wooden rampway witha crane at the top to load the sienite. Sienite is an igneous rock containing hornblende and feldspar. Red and gray granite and sienite have been used in pavements, stairways and lower part of walls. Sienite is also known as Syenite. It is not a common rock. In North America, it occurs in Arkansas, Montana and parts of New England. The certificate is small, about the size of currency. It is signed by Thomas Todd as president and Wm. H. Winslow as treasurer. We could find no instances of this certificate ever being sold in a scripophily auction. So very rare. Fold lines. Uncanceled.
