Absolutely stunning, this is a Victorian playing card press, really quite scarce and hard to find.

The base is made from solid mahogany as is the screw mechanism. The warm reddish wood looks amazing against the polished nickel, which looks to be plated over solid cast brass, a few spots of the plating are worn and the brass can be seen underneath.

In the centre of reticulated panel is the four suits of playing cards, making no mistake for what this was used for, tightly pressing a deck of cards.

The handle at the top has a figural centre and is used to open and close the press.

Absolutely magnificent full working condition and dates to around 1880, late Victorian in period. Measures 6 1/4" x 5" x 7" high.

Worldwide insured shipping included.
