<td width="100%">
Sweet Petite American secretaire very hard to find nice small size. Dating from the very early 1800?s made of Mahogany. The mahogany is highly figured & has simple line inlays .The flame birch central panel of the crest has a very unusual inlay of a simple line with arrows dotting through the line .The top crest is adorned with a central brass ball finial topped with a gilt brass American Eagle, flanked by a ball & spear finial on each side. These finials measure 5 ½? high .The two cupboard doors have six tombstone style glazed glass panels & they appear to be original glass. The escutcheon has an inlayed diamond design. Inside the top are two moveable shelves with a fitted section at the bottom of three drawers with cubby holes underneath. The fold out desk surface is lined with green felt & the felt is in good condition. On the fold out top surface is a quarter inch wide light & dark inlay band. Three drawers are under that & have nice period fancy rosette drawer pulls, not original but of the period. The surface patina of the secretaire is rich & lustrous, it is in very good condition & inside the top drawer is the stamp of Henry Bailey & Co 12 Exchange Street Portland. It measures 73 ¼? high x 39? wide x 21? deep.
