Magnificent pair of factory engraved and gold inlayed Colt Woodsman .22 caliber semiautomatic target pistols by master engraver Leonard Francolini. The set consists of a 6-1/2" Woodsman and a 4-1/2" Woodsman that were returned to thefactory in 1979 for factory embellishment by recognized collector Horace Greely IV. With factory letters confirming engraving and inlay, order number 890, also mentioning presentation Colt display case. The pair show a high polishroyal blue finish, which was applied at the time of embellishment. The pair are in excellent to mint condition. This exact pair are pictured on the cover of the Rampant Colt magazine, September 1991 issue and in other publications included.Leonard Francolini is considered one of the great masters of firearms engraving and his work is actively sought after by sophisticated collectors.
