Magnificent factory engraved Colt exhibition set by master engraver Bryson Gwinnell named “Sport’n Woman”. Formerly Horace Greeley III collection, sold by Butterfield and Butterfield, Lot 1204 of that auction. Thisset features a Colt Single Action Army revolver with birds head grip, 3-1/4” barrel, .45LC cal., royal blue finish, select ivory stocks, #SA11. The pistol is elaborately and finely gold inlaid in whimsical motifs as atribute to ladies of the evening and soiled doves; the gold scenes show nudes, saloon gal in front of “notel hotel” and peering thru window at nude deep cut scroll accents (almost chiseled), and bordered by raised and flush scroll inlays. The front sight is a gold figure of a lady in the ready position using her buttock as slot for sight; the title “Sport’n Woman” in gold on top of backstrap. Condition is excellent to mint,showing no use; pistol is signed on the top front of the hammer. The pistol is accompanied by a finely made dirk knife made and signed by R.W. Loveless with matching motif showing reclining nude on ivory grip;
