This magnificent candle holder comes from the Ottoman Empire, and is made of cast tombac. The wavy shaped stem rests on a triangular, composite base, which is decorated with circular engravings on two sides, and with an inscription on the third side.
The candlestick shows some wear marks. An upper corner of the base has broken off. The inscription shows the date 1259 Hijri, which corresponds to 1843 in our calendar. The candlestick is 96.5 cm high and has a maximum width of 26.5 cm. The weight is 13.56 kilograms.
