FRANCISC II D.G. Franc. ET. SCOT.REX Laureate bust of the young king, left. Reverse:ABUNDANTIAE PUBLICA GALLIAR. (Abundance for the people of France) Large F, crowned at center, around is a double cornucopia, (symbol of abundance), with the king's bust atop at right, the queen's at left. In exergue: PAX . CVM . ANGLIS (Peace with England). Above the exergue line, the date, to left 15, to right, 60. François was crowned king of France on July 10, 1559, upon the accidental death of his father. He was fifteen years of age, and already king consort of Scotland, by his marriage to Mary, Queen of Scots. A sickly young man, he passed away on December 4, 1560. 52mm, 65.4 grams. Uncirculated, with lovely glossy surfaces. Truly a museum quality piece.
