Introduced in 1961 and chambered for the rare and desirable .22 Jet Remington cartridge. This revolver has been extensively and masterfully engraved in a tight Germanic scrolls with 95% plus coverage. The master engraving is accented by platinum and gold inlays on the barrel, frame, cylinder and butt. Adjustable rear sight and fixed front ramp sight, casehardened trigger and hammer. Fitted with a deluxe pair of checkered ropper target grips. Approximately 15,000 were produced before the Model 53 was discontinued in 1974, thus ending a most interesting model in the Smith & Wesson line.
