Manufactured circa 1862 to 1865. The lock is marked "1863" behind the hammer, eagle/shield above "REMINGTON'S/ILION N.Y." followed by "U.S." and a small letter "B". The top of the barrel at the breech is dated "1863" which is stamped above "V/P/eagle head" proofs and the left flat is stamped A "STEEL H.S.L." It has a fixed front sight, three folding leaf type rear sight and brass furniture including the patchbox. The left stock flat has two script cartouches. The patchbox contains an iron worm and an extra percussion nipple. Buttplate tang marked "US", barrel bands stamped with the letter "U" and patchbox marked with a small letter "L". The included sword bayonet has a scabbard and the brass hilt is stamped "BH" and "C".

Condition: Excellent. The barrel retains 95% plus original blue finish. There are a number of minor dings near the muzzle (left side). The lock and hammer retain 85% plus original case colors. The brass has an attractive patina. The stock is also excellent with some scattered pressure dings minor handling marks. The cartouches are crisp. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is fine with a bright blade and an attractive patina on the brass. The scabbard shows cracking and flaking on the leather with the brass having an untouched dark aged patina.
