These beautiful matching pair of fine percussion pistols were manufactured by Heinrich Barella, a German Master Gunmaker. Heinrich Barella was born in Soest, Germany in 1819. He was a Royal percussion High Power Rifle Master and Adviser Commissioner in 1865. After 1871 his title was Imperial Royal High Rifle Master and he made to order weapons for the Royal Court. He died in Berlin, Germany in 1893. These pistols feature fluted octagon 41 caliber barrels are blue with a gold inlaid wire band around the breech end, gold inlaid "H. BARELLA KOENIGL. The barrel plug, decorative barrel tang, hammer, lock, side plate, trigger guard, decorative lower tang, butt cap, and wedge head are beautifully decorated with floral leaf vine engraving. In addition, there is a gold inlaid accent on the barrel tang, hammer, lower tang, and butt cap. The barrel tang also has a gold inlaid "1" (gun A) and "2" (gun B) with a gold inlaid oval around it. There is a niter blue rear sight on the barrel tang which is adjustable for elevation by use of an adjusting key. This is a very rare feature found on dueling pistols.
