Madras Presidency, Arkat Mint (issued at Chintadripetta Mint), Silver Rupee, In the name of Muhammad Shah (1719-1748 AD), Obv: Persian legend “Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Muhammad Shah”, Rev: Persian legend “sana julus” & “zarb Arkat” at the bottom, open lotus mark, 11.50g, 20.55mm (Unlisted in KM /Stevens # 2.47), about extremely fine, Rare.
Note: Approval to mint coins under the Arkat mint name was granted on November 4, 1742. The initial releases comprised both gold and silver coins, minted at a new facility situated in Chintadaripetta, just beyond Madras.
