Fascinating archive of costume and wardrobe material from Madonna’s 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour and her appearance at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards, originating from the collection of noted Hollywood costumer Rob Saduski, who served as Madonna’s longtime tour wardrobe supervisor. The archive consists of a large assortment of handwritten notes, receipts, and documents related to the tour’s meticulous and wide-ranging costumes and wardrobes, including rental invoices, budget revisions, expense lists, contact lists, copies of wardrobe sketches and measurements, costume department shipping sheets, and inventories of the extensive and diligently organized outfits for Madonna and her large cast of backup dancers. Some of the sheets are housed in a 3-ring binder. The art direction was by Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone, and the costumes were created by French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier. Also included with the archive are a set 15 ‘stained glass’ invitations for Ciccone’s first one-man show at his Rue Vivienne boutique in Paris from July 8-26, 1990, with the reverse of the invitation noting the “Saint in Window” image will be a “Backdrop Design Madonna Blond Ambition Tour.” In overall fine condition, with expected handling and storage wear.

Concerts in Madonna's controversial Blond Ambition World Tour were divided into five thematic segments: Metropolis, inspired by the 1927 German expressionist film and the 'Express Yourself' music video; Religious, by religious themes; Dick Tracy, a comic strip film adaptation starring Madonna; Art Deco, inspired by early Hollywood films; and an encore. The massive tour garnered positive reviews from contemporary critics and was a commercial success. It received the 'Most Creative Stage Production' award at the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards and grossed over $62.7 million, which made Madonna the second most successful solo touring act at the time.
