Mademoiselle Lavallière was one of the great French actresses at the turn of the century. The little, rather ugly girl - at that time her name was still Eugenie Feneglio - had a bleak childhood. Not understood by her parents, she tried as a nine-year-old to organize her own life. She discovered her acting talent and soon made friends with it. When she was 15 years old, her father committed suicide. Eugenie took up a job in a fashion store and was trained as an actress at the same time. Soon she was hired in Paris, enthusiastically celebrated and - forgotten again. After years of hard work, she was back at the top. From then on there were only successes for her. And suddenly she realizes during a completely normal vacation trip: I'm missing the "real thing".
