British actress (1906-1987) popular in the 1930s and 1940s recognized at the time as one of the most beautiful women in film. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 GB promotional photo for Farewell To Love, which Carroll has crossed out and written “Loves of a Doctor,” signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, with best wishes, Madeleine Carroll.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of January 21, 1936, the date the signature was acquired. In fine condition, with just a couple minor surface creases and dings.
