Only three notes are known from this bank, which fell into receivership in 1904 after issuing First Charters and Brown Backs only. Our records disclose that the last offering of any kind from here at public sale came back in the very first Hickman and Oakes mail bid sale, held back in April of 1976, which featured a $10 Brown Back from this bank. The discovery of this note in the Rome holdings brings the total of $100 Brown Backs recorded from the entire state to four, with this the only note from Macon and by far the highest grade of the quartet. It is a lovely pen signed most attractive Very Fine+++ example, with its only defect, and a minor one at that, being a close bottom margin. Rarities such as this are offered so infrequently these days that any estimate is but a rank guess, but if grade, rarity, and desirability are any guide, expect this most significant Georgia specimen to see bidding reach or exceed....
